Why Do Led Lights Stop Working? Answer’s Here

A common complaint among consumers of LED light is the fact that the light stops working after a while. This is a nuisance, because it tends to happen when the light is being used.

While it is certainly possible for the light to stop working because of a defective manufacturing process, it might also be a result of the light being used improperly.

What happens when a lightbulb burns out? The light bulb, which is comprised of a single element, suddenly stops working. The light bulb’s filament is made of tungsten, a soft metal that is gradually heated to a temperature of around 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

The tungsten is extremely susceptible to heat. If the bulb is exposed to a sufficient amount of heat, the tungsten will eventually begin to melt and then evaporate, releasing gas atoms.

As the amount of tungsten evaporates, its temperature rises to around 4,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Eventually, the tungsten in the bulb will break down and ignite, turning into carbon and releasing more heat.

How long do led lights last?

The LED lighting industry has grown exponentially in recent years, with LED lighting now outselling fluorescent lighting for the first time in the UK.

While LED lighting is much more expensive than its fluorescent counterpart, there are many benefits to using LED lighting in your home or business.

One of the exciting features of LED bulbs is that they can usually last for at least 20 years on a single day’s charge – that’s about 10 times longer than the lifespan of incandescent bulbs.

It’s this longevity that makes them such a popular choice for public street lighting, and the fact that they last so long means that they’re usually relatively cheap to buy.

Like a new car, a new LED light will have its first few weeks of life when it looks and works best. This is called the “new bulb syndrome”. The LED light should last for at least 50,000 hours.

Common factors why led lights do not work

LED lights are great, they are safe, efficient, low power, long lasting, energy efficient, and more, but what if they don’t work?

  • Power fluctuations

As the number of led lights being bought and sold on the market is rising, so are the number of complaints from buyers about problems with lighting devices. In some cases, buyers are refunded by the LED seller only to find out that the second device has the same problem.

In other cases, buyers are told to send their led lights back to the manufacturer and get replacements, Due to fluctuations.

  • Faulty electrical installation

The problem with the installation of led lights. The issue seems to be related to the fact that many led lights are connected to the electricity mains by a “phantom power” relay, which means that when the lights are switched on, they draw electricity from the mains even when the lights are not being used.

If you have been keeping an eye on the red flashing light on the side of your garage, you should be aware that the problem may soon be resolved. If you have been experiencing the annoying red flashing light in your garage, it may very well be a problem with the electrical installation.

  • Incompatible dimmer

These days, there are more and more products going out of date quickly. When the time comes to replace the dimmer, you will be confronted with a confusing array of options, especially when you want to get the best light imaginable.

It seems that everything from the number of dimming levels, the LED type, the brand, the power consumption, and, of course, the price, has become increasingly varied.

Some dimmer switches may not work with LED lights. This can cause a problem when you want to use the dimmer switch as a light switch in your house.

  • Unsuitable transformer for low voltage lamps

As you know, transformers can be used with low voltage lamps. As a result they are used to control the power supply to the lamp. However, some transformers cannot be used with low voltage lamps

There are many transformers on the market for use in low voltage lamps, but not all of them are suitable for use in low voltage applications.

In fact, the majority of transformers on the market for this application are not suitable for use and are therefore unsuitable for low voltage applications.

How to diagnose led light problems?

The biggest problem associated with LED lights is that they are not very well-known. This is largely due to the fact that the most recent iteration of the technology (LED lights with specific wavelengths of light), is not something that most people buy.

This is a shame, as LED lights are not only superior in terms of cost-per-light-year and efficiency, but their light emission is also more uniform, which makes them more efficient.

Some LED lamps have a problem where the LED light source doesn’t turn on when the lamp is switched on. This problem is known as “Die on Boot” or “Die on Boot up”, and can be very frustrating when you’re trying to set up your room for a movie night.

Here some tips to diagnose faulty led lights:

  • Further minor checks

If your LED strip doesn’t light up as it should, or is flickering, it could be a number of things. Firstly, check that all cables are connected correctly to the strip, and that it’s getting power.

If that’s the case, then check that the light is showing up in your smartphone’s app or on your computer. If it’s not, try other power adapters, or try re-plugging the strip in a different way.

This should help rule out some power supply problems, and if it’s still not working, it’s time to get your hands dirty.

  • Check the socket

LED lights are great. They are energy-efficient, have a long lifespan and they are the future of lighting. But, like any technology, LEDs have their problems.

Specifically, LED lights have issues with colour, brightness and quality. That’s why it’s important to know what to check before buying LED lights.

There are some common LED light problems that can cause a bulb not to produce enough light or just keep flickering all the time. These problems are usually, Broken socket:

Check the wattage of the bulb with a meter, if the LED is losing power or not lighting up then the problem is most likely with the socket.

LED pins: If the LED is not lighting up and the power is correct then the problem is not with the LEDs, you should check the pins that connect the LEDs to the controller.

The first step to solve any LED light problem is to check the socket, not all lights are compatible with all sockets.

  • Check the Wire Connections

Everybody hates bad lighting. It can be distracting and even dangerous. It isn’t just everyday use that can cause problems though lighting can very quickly stop working.

Sometimes even the most minor problems can be expensive to fix. So what can you do about it?

If you think that your LED strips are not working then here is a simple diagram to check. All you need to do is to check the wire connections.

  • Using an electric multimeter to check for short circuiting

If you’re a DIY or electronics enthusiast, then you know that a multimeter is an essential tool for testing a variety of electrical components.

If you’re looking to get a multimeter for yourself, then you’re going to need to pick one up that can measure DC voltage, AC voltage and resistance. There are a few different multimeters on the market, but they all do the basic job of testing your circuits.

A multimeter is an electrical instrument used to measure voltage, current, and resistance among other things. Multimeters come in many shapes and sizes, with many different functions.

Some have very basic functions (such as just measuring voltage, current, or resistance), while others can be used to test high-tech electronic devices such as circuit boards or electronic components.

Still, a multimeter is an essential tool in any technician’s toolbox. However, while the job is the same, the models of multimeter vary in terms of features, price and overall usability.

Do Led lights really last 10 years though?

LED lights last a long time, that’s for sure. But are they really 10 years? The answer to that question is (no) and (not really), because LEDs inside a light will not last forever. LEDs are a type of light that uses semiconductors to produce light.

In the past, LEDs were as bright as incandescent lights, but newer LED technology produces brighter, more durable and more energy-efficient light.
